Well done to the Cross Country Team, who ran a challenging race this evening.

Year 6 pupils took part in the inter-school Cross Country run at Singleton Park this evening.

Well done to Morgan and Caitlin for finishing within the top 4 runners over the finish line!

The next event will be held in the Spring Term – dates to be confirmed.

Enjoy a well deserved rest over the half term break!

Year 6CJ held their Family Assembly this morning. Their Assembly was themed on ‘The Terrible Tudors’.  The children performed their Assembly very well and presented a huge amount of information about the period in a very engaging way.  The Assembly was enjoyed very much by the large appreciative audience.

Year 5 went on a visit to the Sony Factory, Bridgend yesterday as part of their Ospreys project. They were taught about fascinating futuristic technologies and pathways into the technology industry.  Hopefully, they were inspired by the experience.

We have come to the last week of the half term. Next Friday is an INSET day and so the last day for the children is the Thursday.

Have a good weekend.

Our chess teams began the West Wales Junior League this week. As reigning champions, every school wants to beat us, so competition is fierce. Seven of the 8 games lasted over 50 moves and took an hour to play. Well done Vamsi, Josh, Josh, Daniel, Chandrea, James and Raymond.

Football News

The boys continued their 100% record, winning 5-0.

Goals for Jack Jones (on debut) Liam, Andrew Foxall and Louie Baglow. Excellent performances for Monty Boyd and Jake Hallett in defence.

Well done to the girls football team this week.

In a  very close match against Gowerton, the team came out second best, but played with great enthusiasm and team spirit. Final score 2-1 Shannan impressed with her captaincy skills.

The rugby team played their first match of the season against Parkland School this afternoon, having trained hard for the last three weeks.  The Year 6 team conceded a couple of early tries but then fought back hard against a strong opposition to keep them out until the very end.  The vast majority of the Year 5 team were playing their first ever match and really got stuck in against an older team. Ivor and Maya scored super tries.  The team work of all sides was excellent and both games were played in very good spirit.

We are going to have a concerted effort in reducing the large amount of lost property that gathers every week.  We will continue to encourage the children to take ownership of their belongings.  Lunchtime staff are returning uncollected items at the end of break. The lost property box will now be kept at the front desk in Reception to allow swifter return of items.   Please come to Reception if you need to look for any lost items.  Please can you continue to help us by ensuring that all clothing, bags and lunchboxes are named.

The Week Ahead

Individual photographs are being taken next week from Wednesday to Friday.

Year 6CJ will be holding their Family Assembly next Friday, commencing at 10.30 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there.

Have a good weekend.

Congratulations to the school football teams this week.

The girls played a close match and were very unlucky to  lose 2-0. The girls played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

The boys won 6-2 against Crwys School, with Liam O’Connor scoring a hat trick.

Andrew Foxall, Josh Lomax and Finley Rosser also scored.

Ashton Padfield captained the team and led by example.

Next game, next week.
