KS2 children receiving merits for ‘Good Work’ in Achievement Assembly were Josie Woolacott, Imogen Metcalfe, Amy Travers, Olivia Bellis- Williams, Tasmin Cole, Daniel Hale, Sam Healey and Dylan Gwynn.

The following KS2 children were recognised for positive values: Jack Whitehouse, Poppy Salter-Hourigan, Aimee Jones, Tom Whitehouse, Simona Devanakis, Morgan Willis, Amy Lui and the whole of Year 3SK!

It’s been a smooth first week back.  The children have settled back well into their classes.  Year 5 visited Port Eynon today to undertake environmental work on the beach as part of their Outdoor Learning programme.  This is the first in a series of outdoor days which will see the children working towards achieving the prestigious John Muir Environmental Science Award.

Next Monday is the May Day Bank holiday and then nationals tests are being held for Years 2 – 6 between May 3rd and May 10th.  Whilst these tests are statutory, please be reassured that  we endeavour for all the children to be as relaxed as possible when taking them.  Teachers have been successful in previous years in alleviating any possible stress and the vast majority of children have coped fine.

Next Friday is the P.T.A. Quiz Night in the school hall.  We look forward to seeing many of you there.  It promises to be a really fun evening.

Have a good weekend.

Please note that any child who does not sit the test will automatically be given a standardised score of below 85.  This has a detrimental effect on school performance information.

Please will you ensure that your child is in school on the days of their tests, unless too unwell.  The teachers will ensure that the children are as relaxed and comfortable as possible during the test.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Headteacher Weekly News – 07.04.17

Dear Parents,

Unfortunately, due to maintenance work in the hall we were unable to hold Achievement Assembly today. We will present the certificates to the pupils in assembly after the holidays.

The following children were recognised for good work:- Callum Powell, Josie Woolacott, Imogen Metcalfe, Amy Travers, Olivia Beliss- Williams, Tasmin Cole, Daniel Hale, Sam Healey and Dylan Gwynn.

The following children were recognised for demonstrating positive values:- Penny Stanton, Jack Whitehouse, Poppy Salter-Hourigan, Aimee Jones, Tom Whitehouse, Simona Devanakis, Morgan Willis, Amy Lui and the whole of Year 3SK!

It’s been an action packed final week.

There has been great excitement in Nursery with the arrival of our Easter Chicks. All the children have taken extreme care looking after the new arrivals.

Y1 held their cake stall on Tuesday, which was a great success. All the children baked delicious cakes and we experienced a near sell out.

Year 3 have welcomed parents to help bake and create Easter Crafts and treats, thank you to all who attended. Year 4 held an Easter Egg Hunt in the school grounds and all the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Year 6 have had a busy week with a trip to Harry Potter World on Thursday and hosting their enterprise day on Wednesday. This was extremely well supported by parents. The children have demonstrated their entrepreneurial skills by creating their own companies. A very healthy profit of £66.05 was made by Swankey Candles of Mrs Miller’s class, and an excellent return of £96 profit was recorded by Sweet Bubbles of Mrs Jackson’s class. Overall, the year group made a £300 profit which will be reinvested into the Year 6 classes. Once again thank you for all the generosity and support.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the members of the PTA who helped relocate lost property and who helped out on the wonderful stalls.

May we take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and restful Easter Holiday.
