Sketty Primary would like to thank Mrs Norman and Stenor for kindly funding the entire school football kit. The kit will have its first outing on the pitch early in the new year and our first game will be against Parkland Primary. We can’t wait to see it in action. Hopefully it will bring us good luck in the future!
Year 5 have recently taken part in a Code Breaking day as part of their study of WW2. Mrs Jackson recently attended a conference run by Technocamps where she took part in a variety of worshops based around Computational Thinking. Computational Thinking is one of the four strands of the Digital Competence Framework (DCF).
Technocamps provided all of the equipment and resources for the sessions to run. Pupils enjoyed learning about a variety of codes such as the Pig Pen Cypher, the Ceaser Cypher, the Bacon Cypher and several more. In the afternoon, they used their decoding skills to break in to a series of boxes, cracking the codes, solving the clues to get to the final box containing their prize. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their day and we would like to say a huge Thank You to Technocamps for providing all of the resources and for the training provided.
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the Eco-Schools Platinum+ Award.
“A Platinum Eco-School is a school that has been continuously involved in the programme for 8 years, or the time it has taken to get to the 4th flag. By this point, the Eco-Schools process should be well embedded into the life of the school and the Green Flag criteria met without exceptions or recommendations. “
Well done to our Eco Commitee and everyone at Sketty Primary!
Swansea City are backing a new initiative to help provide free football boots to kids and young adults in the community.
Called The Boot Room, the idea was thought up by local Swans fan Carl Bradley in a bid to help families struggling to finance football boots for their children.
With football boots proving extremely expensive to purchase, it was also preventing many youngsters from participating in the game they love.
But Carl has come to the rescue and received backing from the Swans
and many local businesses who are acting as drop off points for the boots.
The Swans now have a drop off point at the Liberty Stadium club shop for supporters to drop off any unwanted football boots in good condition. All sizes are welcome for children and young adults.
The club is also looking to work with Carl and The Boot Room on a long-term basis to provide the support he needs and establish a forthcoming collection point.
All donated football boots can be dropped off at the club shop between 10am and 5pm.
If you are a parent or child in need of boots, or feel you can assist Carl with his worthy project, visit https://www.swanseacity.com/news/swansea-city-back-boot-room and follow the link at the bottom of the article for contact details.
