Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems with reading, writing and spelling.
It’s a specific learning difficulty, which means it causes problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing. Unlike a learning disability, intelligence isn’t affected.
It’s estimated up to 1 in every 10 people in the UK has some degree of dyslexia.
We are committed to supporting children with Dyslexia and have just signed up for a subscription of Nessy for the next 3 years. This is intuitive software that targets children’s individual needs, in spelling, reading and phonics. The children can practise their targets 4 times a week for 15-20 mins a day and is an online program, that can also be played at home. Individual children’s progress is tracked and targeted supplementary lessons can be delivered by school, as and when is appropriate. Nessy also has a dyslexia screener within the program, so the children can be screened for dyslexic tendencies.
If you think your child would benefit from using Nessy and have not already been signed up, please contact your child’s class teacher or Mrs Miller on email@example.com
